
Amy Tobin began playing the violin at age 10 under the tutelage of Mary West. She attended the summer music institutes of Interlochen and Tanglewood before entering college. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance at Boston University, where she studied primarily with Roman Totenberg. While in college, she attened the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music festival in Blue Hill, Maine during the summers and played in many of the areas local orchestras during the year. She also played with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra in Greensboro, North Carolina, during the 1992-1993 season. Since then she has been involved in the recording studio with musicians from Minnesota to Jamaica playing every kind of music from reggae to rock. Currently, she is a member of the St. Paul Civic Symphony and a substitute musician for the Minnesota Sinfonia.
