Ben Bussey is a brass musician, educator, and student in his final semester of study at the University of Minnesota. While doubling on trombone, bass trombone, and euphonium, he has been a part of every major classical and jazz ensemble at the university - often as principal. His work with chamber music includes both coaching/conducting and performance, with his brass quintet being selected by the city of St. Paul to help represent the Twin Cities at the 2006 Quebec Winter Carnival.
Ben is an active freelance musician in all styles, with credits including the Encore Wind Ensemble, Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra, Minnesota Jazz Orchestra, and Bloomington Civic Theater. He is currently student teaching at Rosemount High School, whose music programming was recently named "best in the state" by Minnesota Monthly magazine.
Ben's teachers include Tom Ashworth, John Tranter, Dave Werden, and Greg Lewis.
